You're busy. You don't want to learn prompt engineering theory. You want templates you can use right now.
Template 1: Writing Requests
Replace the brackets with your specifics:
Write a [FORMAT] about [TOPIC]. Audience: [WHO]. Tone: [HOW]. Length: [HOW LONG]. Include: [WHAT ELSE].
Example: "Write an email about our new pricing. Audience: existing customers who might leave. Tone: empathetic, value-focused. Length: 200 words. Include: what they're getting for the price increase."
Template 2: Analysis Requests
Analyze [THING] for [PURPOSE]. Context: [BACKGROUND]. Focus on: [SPECIFIC AREAS]. Output format: [HOW YOU WANT IT].
Example: "Analyze our customer churn data for retention strategy. Context: we lost 5% of customers last quarter. Focus on which segments are leaving and why. Output format: summary, top 3 reasons, 3 retention tactics."
Template 3: Code Requests
Generate [CODE TYPE] that [DOES WHAT]. Language: [WHICH LANGUAGE]. Style: [CONVENTIONS]. Error handling: [HOW TO HANDLE ERRORS].
Example: "Generate a function that calculates monthly recurring revenue. Language: Python. Style: clean, commented, follows PEP 8. Error handling: handle empty or invalid input gracefully."
The Pattern
All effective prompts follow the RACE Framework: Role (who you are), Action (what you need), Context (background situation), Expectation (what defines success).
You don't need to memorize the theory. Just use the templates. They encode the theory automatically.
Templates Built Into RACEprompt
