Stop Cold Outreach, Start Vibe Working: The AI-Powered Networking System

Cold outreach doesn't work. I've tested it extensively. The reply rate is terrible. The conversations are awkward. The relationships that form are transactional at best.

Three years ago, I stopped doing cold outreach entirely. Instead, I do what I call "vibe working"—building relationships through genuine value and shared interests, amplified by AI to scale effectively.

What Cold Outreach Gets Wrong

Cold email assumes: "I don't know you, but I want something from you." The other person immediately asks: "Why should I care?" And usually, the answer is "you shouldn't."

Vibe working assumes: "I have something genuinely useful to share. We probably have overlapping interests. Let me add value first, no strings attached."

How to Actually Do It

Step 1: Find your people. Not random targets. People who are actually interested in what you do. Use Twitter, LinkedIn, industry forums, communities. Find people asking questions you can answer.

Step 2: Add genuine value first. Answer their question. Share an insight. Recommend a resource. Do this publicly or privately, but always with zero expectation of return.

Step 3: Build the relationship over time. Engage with their work. Comment thoughtfully on their posts. Share their ideas. This is where AI helps—you can track more people, engage more thoughtfully, with less time.

Step 4: When the time is right, have an actual conversation. By now, you're not a stranger. You're someone they recognize and respect. The conversation is genuine, not transactional.

Where AI Helps

The scaling part. I can't personally track 500 people I'm interested in networking with. But I can use AI to help me:

• Identify people in my field who are doing interesting work
• Research their recent posts and projects
• Draft thoughtful responses or engagement
• Track ongoing relationships and remind me to check in

AI handles the tracking and the drafting. I do the genuine judgment and the relationship building.

The Results

In the past year, I've built meaningful relationships with dozens of people in my industry. Not through transactional cold outreach. Through genuine connection amplified by AI.

The conversations are better. The partnerships are better. The referrals are better. All because we started with genuine value and real relationship-building, not a sales pitch.
